House near the Iron Mountains

INVESTOR private
PROJECT 05/2011
REALIZATION 06/2012 - 2016
BUILT-UP AREA 150 m²

Years of hard work paid off when the investors finally managed to build their family house in an orchard inherited from their parents. The house was limited both from the perspective of placement (the house stands on the site of the original wooden cottage) and the basic shape of the house, i.e. a single-storey structure with a live-in attic beneath a gable roof.

The basic idea was the maximum connection of the house with the large orchard. The ground floor of the house with attached terrace is the main living space. The live-in attic offers open space with a variety of uses.

The load-bearing structure of the house is brick, and the ceiling on the ground floor is made of pre-stressed reinforced concrete panels. The roof utilises a steel truss. The new openings in the house are fitted with aluminium windows with triple glazing. The flooring is from laminated oak laid in strips, and the same material was used for the doors, panelling and ceilings.

The exterior facade and roof shingles are from Canadian cedar. Contrasting with the wooden facade is black alucobond used to clad the entrance area, dormers and the lining of all the windows.
